
It can be confusing about what positive and negative reinforcement mean because when you think of “positive” it must be something good, and “negative” must be something bad. This is true: positive reinforcement means that you are saying it’s okay and negative reinforcement says that it’s not okay. Just remember, when you positively reinforce negative behavior, however, you’re saying it’s okay to continue the negative behavior.
