Hold On!

Moderation is the key, but it is a difficult thing to do because some people cannot hold on to their will power. If it’s there, they want it. If it’s to be had, they must have it.

Everyone basically starts out with a want list before they have a need list, and the wants outweigh the needs and their goals change to meet their wants. I remember someone saying that you will always get what you want, and I didn’t understand it until now. Wants are easy to come by, it’s needs that are elusive. People think that they are the same thing, but needs are basic and overlooked.

What makes a person who has everything want more? Aren’t they satisfied with what they have and know that that they don’t need anything more (outside of food)? It’s because wants are only based on what they see – get the bigger house even though there’s only one or two people to occupy it; get the sleeker car to go with the other sleek cars already parked in the 10-car garage. You only need to live in a place with enough accommodations, and can only drive one car at a time.

I guess needs are too boring. But can wants satisfy?

This impetuous behavior is dangerous and can lead to a slippery slope. When you grasp to hold on to everything, your hands are full and you can’t grab the life line when it’s extended.
