Mortar and Pestle

A mortar and pestle can change something solid into a powder. It is designed to grind and grind until the substance is crushed and becomes more manageable. The reason? To make the substance more malleable, easier to use.

Throughout history, civilizations have struggled to survive. People have either adapted to their environments or they migrated to an area that was more suitable. And the more suitable the environment, the more it was sought after. Mostly to the detriment of its current inhabitants.

Why do people feel it is necessary to use a method of crushing to obtain a share of resources? I still believe that God made enough of everything for everybody, so the power struggle was never necessary. But because we are human and fallible, we tend to want more than we need and cause the destruction of the very resources we seek.

I’m speaking specifically about these united states. The original inhabitants welcomed the visitors that came and even showed them how to survive during the harsher weather. There had been other visitors who were more civilized that came and went or adapted, so it was unexpected that these visitors would not only be staying but taking over. And then they stole another group of people (since the current inhabitants didn’t work out) to do the work that they couldn’t. The method they used for this was to extract them from everything they knew and then use a different crushing method called slavery to make them more manageable.

Jumping to our current period, there is a different method that is used called assimilation – but this assimilation has destroyed souls. I think that part of the cause of mental health in this country is because assimilation has changed the character of people. Being like others in society for survival’s sake has turned to wanting the same things they want and acting the same way they act, but it is against their true character.

This is the worst kind of slavery –capturing the mind and spirit by changing the value system of a people. But history also teaches us that this is temporary. Even though we keep revolving instead of evolving, each generation moves the wheel more toward their true nature.
