The First Step

In most cases a baby will learn to crawl before it learns to walk, but sometimes they just get right up and they’re off! I’m going to talk about the former. We all go through life in stages and learn and improve as we go. But we don’t always improve because of how we go through life.

Nothing can continue that does not begin somewhere. This applies to things good and things bad. Random occurrences can interrupt things, and the path you are on can have obstacles and potholes. I remember an explanation of insanity that goes something like this:

A man was walking along and fell into a hole. When he got out, he continued on his way. The next day he went in the same direction and fell into the same hole. He got out and continued on once again. He did this a couple more times. The final time he went in the same direction, but he went around the hole.

Tying this in with the first step, if you have an inkling about how something may turn out and you still move forward, you should not be surprised about the outcome. And even trying to switch up and do a different method to reach that same goal can land you in the same place.

I’m just saying that going left versus going right to get to point Z is going to get you to point Z. The only difference is that left may have the obstacles and right may have the potholes. And if you don’t like how things turn out or decide you don’t want to go that route at all because you know how it’s going to turn out, pick point X.
