Because it is necessary to survive in an environment, people adapt or acclimate to that environment. And here in America, people have to be adaptable to the almighty capitalism that rules this country. How a person chooses to adapt or acclimate depends on what they want their life to look like – sometimes in the moment only, and sometimes in the long run.
Going over adaptation and acclimation once more: Adaptation occurs when a person makes adjustments to survive in an environment; acclimation occurs when a person blends into the environment. What’s the difference, you ask? The first gives the person a chance to remain who they are, but the second turns a person into who society thinks they ought to be.
A lot of good can come from either one, because opportunity is always available in a capitalistic society. It’s how a person chooses to exploit this opportunity that matters. Some choose to be of service and some choose to be entrepreneurs; some choose to delve into religion and some choose to delve into science; some use their talents in the arts and some use their talents in industry; some choose law and order and some choose criminal activities.
But how many are content with what they have chosen? And how many have been changed for the better or worse by what they have chosen?
I sometimes wonder why I am and what my purpose is. It seems to always evolve around service and children, but I still don’t know if that is who I am. I’m going to issue a challenge on Facebook and Instagram to see if anybody knows who they are.
