When people need to do a retake or begin again (or at all), it needs to be done with honesty and integrity for yourself, in addition to a willingness to move forward.
Sometimes people never get started with life. They go through their days fulfilling everyone else’s dreams and wishes instead. There is no satisfaction or happiness for them because they are not living for themselves. It’s hard sometimes to know what it is you want to do or who it is you want to be, so following others or doing what others think you’re good at is easier.
Unfortunately, this may be over their total lifespan; but this is where the willingness comes in. Since what you want to do is usually what others think of as insignificant or not profitable or whatever, you may discount it or agree with what they say and pursue something that fits the norm. The secret to being profitable and happy, though, is that when you do what you enjoy, it is not really work – and the money comes without you considering it.
For those who have made bad choices or destructive decisions that have affected themselves and possibly others, interventions and the like only work because the transgressor is ready to reform. Other people can give advice or a wake-up call or a push, but these things are only going to be supportive, not motivating. The person needing reform is the only one who can do the heavy lifting. A battery can get a jump start to get a car going for a time, but what is really needed is a new battery (or new car), and it’s up to the owner to decide to get one.
NOTE: People who say they are sorry and want another chance are usually those who are going to be repeating whatever transgression and pretending to do whatever they think it takes to get back in your good graces. These people are spending their time looking for that doorway (opportunity) that is going to let them back in to do what they always did.
