Patience

Ah, patience. The virtue that frustrates a lot of people because they want right now. And because they want right now, they act impulsively or rashly and have Ken/Karen moments or worse.

Patience supports the practice of self-control by counting to ten, deep breathing, meditation, yoga, etc. There is no real cost except the time it takes to bring you back to yourself, because time is all that is necessary. You give yourself the chance to think and rationalize, to form words in your mind before you speak, to hold your hands by your side before taking a punch, or to seek alternative ways or assistance to end things like bullying and intimidation.

The methods used for self-control cost the least but not using any form can cost the most.
