The most precious commodity we humans have is time. It’s what’s really factored into pricing goods and services. The bigger or more elaborate or exclusive the product, the more time it consumes and therefore the higher the cost. The more exclusive or unique or captivating the service, or the more people are affected by the service, the more it takes to perfect it and therefore the higher the cost. That’s why social media careers are popping up right now – it’s all about captivating and entertaining at the moment. But “this too shall pass” because what people want out of life passes all too rapidly.
An author Erin Bow wrote about time: “I think there’s never going to be a now. I think there’s always going to be a before, and an after.” I think she meant that the present doesn’t really exist because it is gone as soon as it is here.
Why is time such a commodity? Because time cannot be wasted if we want a chance to live. And so of course it depends on the paths we choose to make our lives as comfortable and pleasant as possible. What paths have you chosen for yourself and, very directly, for those who are a part of your life?
