Remember Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror, when he says “Take a look at yourself and make a change”? It’s the one statement that speaks the truth about “changing” a person – you yourself alone.
There is no one else who can change you. There is no one you can change. If you believe this is true, you are only seeing the change that you yourself have accepted for yourself. At most it is another person’s suggestion and your acknowledgment and acceptance of the suggestion.
Why you do so is in your subconscious, either tailoring yourself to fulfill the need you have or to gain what you want from that person.
And the truth goes for the person you believe you are “changing” – that person is only saying okay to either meet his/her need or to gain what s/he wants from you.
Start with yourself and decide what it is you want from yourself and work on it or modify it to suit you. Then if there is someone else who will help satisfy that need or want, you can be sure because you have satisfied yourself already.
